![]() ![]() When the Germans captured and used the Sherman, they expressed a strong praise for it. The tanks they captured were also used by them, highest usage being late war with their supply shortages and had to use all they had. ![]() Germany like most militaries took captured equipment, this includes tanks. It was not simply "because numbers." The tactics that the Sherman was capable of in it's organized squads and platoons by these crews made them a serious force to be reckoned with. Effective to the point where the Sherman was 3x more effective than the Panther. The Sherman tank was incredibly efficient, both in combat and reliability. In the hands of the Allies, the US tank crews specifically. Unlike for Germany who had the stronger chance to just send their tanks back to make major fixes and changes. So much so that many future modifications were able to be installed in the field as sending them back to factories was not an efficient option. Out of all the common and well known tanks of World War 2 specifically, the Sherman was incredibly well planned and improved. As in they were shipped across 2000 miles of ocean. Sherman tanks primarily came from the United states. ![]()
